Luzinete Augusto da Silva, 37 years old incomeless mother of 9 children, holds his worm-infected little boy, rural area of Bananeiras city in Paraiba State, a region hiited by drought in Northeastern Brazil. Intestinal parasites are prevalent in tropical areas. They can aggravate malnutrition by depleting essential nutrients through intestinal blood loss and chronic diarrhea.
